Flask Application Development

REST APIs, admin dashboards, and internal tools built with Flask — lean, auditable, and yours to own.

Flask is a great fit when you want a small, explicit Python backend without the framework weight. We build REST APIs, admin tools, and internal dashboards in Flask — with real auth, real tests, and a project layout you can maintain.

What we deliver.

  • Flask app scaffolded with blueprints, factory pattern, and config by environment
  • REST APIs with request validation (pydantic or marshmallow) and OpenAPI docs
  • SQLAlchemy models with Alembic migrations
  • Auth — session, JWT, API key, or OAuth (Google, GitHub, Auth0) depending on fit
  • Admin dashboards with Flask-Admin or a custom Jinja + HTMX stack
  • pytest test suite covering the routes and business logic
  • Dockerfile, docker-compose for local, and a deployment recipe (Fly, Render, ECS, or your own)

Use cases.

Internal admin panel

CRUD over your Postgres database with auth, permissions, and audit log. Shipped in a week, owned by your team.

REST API for a new product

You need an API for a mobile app or frontend. We build it in Flask with clean route structure, validation, and tests.

Webhook receiver

A reliable endpoint that validates signatures, processes events idempotently, and stores or forwards the payload.

Legacy backend clean-up

You inherited a Flask app with 2,000-line files and no tests. We refactor to blueprints, add the test harness, and leave a project people want to work on.

Questions.

Why Flask and not FastAPI?+
Either works — we pick based on the team and the workload. Flask is great for synchronous CRUD, forms, and admin tools. FastAPI wins for async-heavy APIs and when typed validation is non-negotiable. We do both.
Which database do you use?+
Postgres by default, via SQLAlchemy. SQLite for internal tools or prototypes. MySQL when you already have one. Supabase, Neon, or RDS for hosting.
Do you build frontends too?+
For admin tools, yes — Jinja templates with HTMX or a light React/Next.js frontend. For full product UIs we scope separately under Web Apps.
How do you handle auth securely?+
Password hashing with argon2, short-lived JWTs or secure session cookies, CSRF protection on state-changing routes, and OAuth through a vetted library — never hand-rolled crypto.
